Have you ever thought about how your daily lifestyle affects your health and happiness? Have you been told that making time for those little things such as sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress management, can all affect your life?

Our life-sustaining system is our IMMUNITY (Vyadhi Kshamatva) that serves as a defense mechanism and protects us from infections, dis-eases, and unhappiness. It’s important to keep the immune system healthy so it can effectively do its job. Ayurveda offers lifestyle choices that affect your immune system.

NUTRITION (AHARA)
Nutrition plays a huge role in how our immune system functions. When your body is deprived of essential nutrients, it isn’t performing at its highest level.
SLEEP (NIDRA)
Sleep is what your body needs to repair and restore itself. Getting enough high-quality sleep is just as important as proper nutrition and physical activity is for your body. Sleep is the body’s way to repair cells and tissues.
STRESS-FREE LIVING (BRAHMACARYA)
Stress is the salt of life, but too much stress can be harmful. The effects of too much stress accumulate and can make you more susceptible to illnesses and diseases. A stress-free lifestyle is a key component in keeping our immune system healthy.

According to Ayurveda, strong immunity is a product of good digestion, strong Agni (Regulated metabolism) quality liver functioning, and a balanced Neuro-endocrine system which is represented by well-balanced Vata energy. Immunity is also very much connected to a mysterious substance called Ojas.

Ojas is the positive subtle Paraná responsible for body strength, vigor, vitality, and immunity. It is the superfine essence of all of the bodily tissues and the end product of perfect digestion. So our focus should be on Ojas promotion. There are Ayurvedic remedies and therapies with protecting our Neuro-endocrinal system and promote the Ojas and thereby Immunity.

There are a number of Ayurvedic herbs that can support the immune system. Substances such as milk, ghee, or honey work as carriers that assist in delivering herbs deeper into those tissues. Turmeric is an easy resource to bolster the immune system. Curcumin, the active principle of turmeric helps purify the blood, strengthens digestion, and eliminates natural toxins from the digestive tract.

Similarly, Ginger (Zingiber officinale) regulates digestion, burn Ama molecules, and stimulate and support the immune system. Zingiber officinale has a number of chemicals responsible for its medicinal properties, such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and ant mutagenic properties.

Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) is a spiritual herb efficient in promoting healthy circulation, and strong digestion. It is useful in maintaining normal body temperature and it naturally bolsters the immune system. Being a spiritual herb, Tulsi serves to elevate awareness and mental clarity.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is commonly used for stress. It is also used as an “adaptogen” for many other conditions. Ashwagandha contains chemicals that might help calm the brain, reduce swelling (inflammation), lower blood pressure, and alter the immune system.

Immunity Support and Neuro Cons developed by Dr. Mukesh Jain for the Ayush Samiti, the parent body of AMDS India, are efficient formulas to rejuvenate the Neuro-Conscious- apparatus and strengthen the body’s resistance against infections and diseases.
