Sometimes called wear and tear arthritis, osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common type of arthritis. When the smooth cushion between bones (cartilage) breaks down, joints can get painful, swollen, and hard to move. OA can affect any joint, but it occurs most often in the hands, knees, hips, lower back, and neck. OA can happen at any age, but it commonly starts in the 50s and affects women more than men. This disease starts gradually and worsens over time. But there are ways to manage OA to prevent or minimize pain and keep mobile. Some people never develop OA. Ayurvedic Rasayana drugs such as Sukumar Guggul Rasayana and Neuro Cons along with TMP Panch Karma, physiotherapy, and Yogic support are efficient in the treatment of hip pain.
Tendinitis is inflammation of a tendon – a thick, flexible cord of tissue that attaches muscle to bone. Tendons help muscles move bones. Tendinitis most commonly occurs in the shoulder, bicep, elbow, hand, wrist, thumb, calf, knee, or ankle. Since the pain of tendinitis occurs near a joint, it is sometimes mistaken for arthritis. The condition is more common in adults over the age of 40 and athletes. Some forms of tendinitis are named after certain sports (e.g., tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, pitcher’s shoulder, swimmer’s shoulder, and jumper’s knee).
Bursae are fluid-filled sacs that reduce friction and cushion the areas between bones, tendons, and muscles. They are found in the hips and other parts of the body. When these soft tissues become inflamed, they cause pain in the affected area. The condition is called bursitis. Injury or overuse of bursae is a common cause of bursitis.
