Congenital anomalies or birth defects are functional anomalies that occur during intrauterine life. According to Ayurveda congenital anomalies are due to defect in germ cells or somatic cells in the intrauterine environment. Birth defects may be caused by the abnormal migration of neurons in the developing brain and nervous system.
